Couple Ties the Knot at Zelda-Themed Wedding

nXpPPrVw

HONESDALE, Pa. —  Gamers will appreciate this Pennsylvania couple for tying the knot with a video game-themed wedding.

Robert Piazza and Christa Slayton walked down the aisle Sunday at a Game Stop dressed as characters from The Legend of Zelda video game.

Piazza dressed as the character Link and his bride was Princess Zelda.

The couple met at the store during a Mario Kart tournament. Then, in October of last year Piazza proposed.

The gaming theme continued at the reception, where guests competed in a Super Smash Brothers tournament.

In the Fridge

At last night’s Oxford Geek Night, we had an interesting talk from Roo Reynolds about some of his collections. One such collection, was a Flickr group of photographs taken inside fridges.

Being a geek, I decided I ought to give it a try. This photo was taken by placing my iPhone 4S in the fridge, with a fisheye lens attached, along with a torch for backlighting (the fisheye lens blocks the iPhone’s flash).

Annoying notifications from Twitter on mobile

Lately I have been receiving a lot of annoying notifications from Twitter on my phone. Primarily from @twibbon Try as I might, I couldn’t work out how to turn them off. Even disabling notifications for the Twitter app entirely didn’t stop them.

Luckily Mashable came to the rescue this morning with this post:

Pumpkin Carving

With Halloween just around the corner, I thought I’d try my hand at a spot of pumpkin carving. This is not my own design: it is a loose recreation of a photo I saw when I Googled “pumpkin carving”.

Holly Madison Autograph

Things have been a bit quiet on the autograph front, but I did manage to get Holly Madison’s autograph when I watched Peepshow in Vegas on the 17th June. Apparently she is leaving the show at the end of the year to start a family.

Freecell version 2.2

Anyone who tried out my version of Freecell for the Blackberry Playbook will have realised that it was very basic. In order to get it submitted in time for the promotion I had to leave it at the bare minimum. During a few hardware upgrades I managed to delete the source code, so I decided to completely re-write it for a version 2.0 release. Over the past two weeks I have released another 2 updates, bringing the version count to 2.2. Hopefully this version addresses many of the deficiencies in the original release.

Version 2.0:

  • Complete re-write.
  • Added ability to move groups of cards.
  • Added kingOnly option.
  • Added card remaining count and game timer.
  • Added sound effects for card move and game completion.

Version 2.1:

  • Minor bug fixes.
  • Added double-click logic to send card to home cells or free cells.

Version 2.2:

  • Added safe and aggressive auto play logic. Safe auto play mirrors the moves made by Microsoft Freecell and Freecell Pro. Aggressive auto play mirrors the moves made by NetCell.

MS Week 2009

ms-week-banner

Although many people have heard of MS, few people understand the complex, unpredictable, and potentially debilitating effects of the UK’s most common neurological condition affecting young adults.

During MS Week, as well as aiming to generally raise awareness and understanding of the condition, the MS Society is organising a number of national and local events which we need your help to make a success.

MS Week gives organisations working with people living with and affected by MS the opportunity to raise their profile in the public eye for one special week in the year.

Users of social networking websites are being asked to change their avatar to help promote the cause. There are a selection of avatars on the following page:

Memorabilia Show

I have just returned from my latest bout of celebrity bothering at the NEC in Birmingham. This weekend they are hosting the Memorabilia show, featuring a number of sports and media stars, along with a variety or memorabilia dealers.

As per usual, I managed to spend far more money than I planned to. The new autographs I’ve added to my collection are:

Holly McGuire
Amylu Bennet
Robert Vaughn
Craig Charles
Robert Llewellyn

I had my picture taken with Holly McGuire who was very chatty, and every bit a lovely as I remember her being from my younger days.
